GUIDELINES
We have launched this award to acknowledge the acts of goodwill which are carried out by many of our District’s residents, which may go unrecognised by the wider community. In order to address this imbalance and promote community spirit, Mexborough & District Lions Club have established the Florence Nightingale Good Neighbour & Community Award.
The award scheme includes acts of good neighbourliness and the work of those who give up their time voluntarily to community groups and organisations.
You are invited to nominate individuals or couples. The nominee must be a resident within our specific area and not be the winner of any other good neighbour or community award.
PLEASE NOTE:
Before submitting your nomination form, you must obtain the consent of the nominee as the judges may wish to visit those involved.
THE AWARD:
Qualities of a “Florence Nightingale Good Neighbour and Community Award” that would make your nomination qualify include:
· Assisting in household chores, such as washing, ironing and shopping.
· Visiting those living alone or in hospital.
· Offering lists to neighbours without transport.
· Generally assisting friends and neighbours in need.
· Undertaken outstanding community work over a long period for a community group or organisation which helps people such as the elderly or disabled.
The judges will be members of Mexborough & District Lions Club.
The winner will receive a prize and a certificate and will be presented by our Club’s president on 5th January 2010.
NB. In all matters connected with the Florence Nightingale Good Neighbour and Community Award Scheme, the decision of Mexborough & District Lions Club is final. No cash alternative to the award will be given. For further information about the award please contact the Club’s secretary Eileen Luckcuck on 0845 833 2815 or email info@mexboroughlions.org.uk
